The first half of the year is now coming to and end and boy, it has been a journey. Everything started with the continuous heated discussions about climate change, then moving on to a sudden pandemic shock, further on to social distancing and ending to a widespread movement supporting equality through black lives matter.

In the midst of all of this, we at Nordkapp have been busy all along. Delivering projects and helping our partners as usual, but also releasing our New Normal foresight report and winning the Company of the Year -award in the Grand One (online) gala have been some of the positive highlights from our spring.

The global situation above obviously have affected us greatly and forced us to rethink about ourselves as well — I wrote a blog post which opens up our new ways of thinking about our industry and about design in general. A lot more of our insights is going to be released later on in the fall so stay tuned and subscribe to our channels to keep up to date on our thinking.

Other than that, Nordkapp office is now mostly turning to summer mode. Weeknotes will be on pause until August when most of us are working again.

From my behalf, a huge thanks to all our partners, collaborators and followers — have a relaxing summer!

What happened at the office this week:

It seems that Sari’s computer wanted to take an early summer holiday.

Eero, Shakti and Matti are collaborating to create an inspiring concept for our dear customer.

Monika is ready to start the longest holidays of her life (so far).

For Teppo the hot weather is not helping the last weeks of work before holiday

This week Sami has been mostly involved in several instances of proving the value of an external consultant to leadership and investors. Sometimes it requires a skilled outside thinker and doer to see what matters, translate that to how and proceed leapfrogging to next literal version of value and market.

Topias is having a short holiday before the bigger one.

Liam has been hard at work bringing a new digital service into being, and had a nice chance this week to get some early feedback on how the service feels with users. Quite a nice process so far and a nice team and client.

Kenneth joined a new digital strategy project — lots of bits and pieces to put together but really exciting opportunities ahead!

Shakti’s had a good week winding up a project with the team and continuing a new one with another. Plus it’s been all warm and sunny, 27 degrees in Helsinki is always special. Coming from India, I’m never the one to complain about this being too hot :)

Weeknotes are what happened at our studio this week. This week’s weeknote was curated by Juhani Haaparanta

Juhani is the Managing Director at Nordkapp, and treats his symptoms with the help of suburbian family life in Espoo
