This is my vision of how the mobile web user experience should be: www.whenimmobile.com on your computer or mobile device. If accessing from your mobile, examples of our work can be found behind the Portfolio link. Thanks for the excellent post!

Oh, and to add to that, companies that now invest in creating the next paradigm want to get some return on their investment at some point. It is in their interest to stabilize the market after the turmoil.

Thanks, Jukka!
Yes, I think that the cycles will continue to be fairly long. Of course, the next one could be only 10 years or so as everything tends to move faster in the world. But if 3+ billion users first change to the next dominant paradigm, it will take time for the next one. The other option is of course that fragmentation will increase and there will be several dominant designs. My view is that the fragmentation happens only in the early adopter segments, but majority will go for the most popular UI.

Nice summary Panu. Congratulations for applying practical out-of-the-box thinking and doing by now seeing the world outside mother-Nokia :)

One comment: do you really think that the next iconic interface solutions will last 10 to 20 years? I guess within such time frame there will be several paradigm shifts driven by technology -- so a series of iconic-to-come solutions.
